1.     Nun. By the pen and what is written line by line by those who are writing,

2.     for you are not possessed by invisible beings; thanks to the blessing of your God,

3.     there is a continuous reward for you.

4.     And you truly are of a great moral character.

5.     Soon you will see, they will see, too,

6.     which one of you is the afflicted one, the mad one.

7.     Yes, it is your God who knows best who is stray from His path. And He knows best who is guided to what is right and beautiful.

8.     Then, do not obey the deniers.

9.     They wanted you to have a humble attitude and be loose/to butter up so they could butter up too/be soft.

10.  Do not bow down to/comply to any of the following: worthless habitual swearers,

11.  mockers/loose-lipped, moving about with malicious gossip,

12.  preventers of doing/producing good, unrespecting boundaries-being aggressive and sinful,

13.  rude/greedy, and, after all that, degenerate, sealed with malice.

14.  What does it matter that he has riches and sons?

15.  When our signs/wonders/verses are read to him, he will say: “These are stories of the former ones.”

16.  Soon, we will brand his snout/teach him a lesson.

17.  We afflicted them, as we have afflicted those garden owners, when they swore that they would prune and harvest the garden in the morning.

18.  Not making any exception.

19.  But when they were asleep, a wandering disaster from your God visited the garden and,

20.  it turned pitch-black.

21.  In the morning, they called out to each other:

22.  “Come on, go early to your crop if you are going to harvest.”

23.  They set out, whispering to one another:

24.  “Hey, make sure that no poor people will come in there today.”

25.  They arrived early, as persons who are only capable of obstruction and violence.

26.  But when they saw the garden, they said: “We must have come to the wrong place!”

27.  “No! We have been disadvantaged.”

28.  The middle one/the moderate one, said: “I told you so. You should have praised.”

29.  Then they said: “We praise You, oh our God! We truly became cruel.”

30.  Then they started blaming each other.

31.  “Shame on us,” they said, “we truly have gone beyond limits.”

32.  “Hopefully our God gives us something better than this, so that we will turn to our God with everything we have.”

33.  Such is suffering. But surely, the suffering of the hereafter is much greater. If they only knew.

34.  For the ones who are careful/cautious/wary/refraining, with their God are heavenly gardens full of blessings.

35.  Would we treat the ones that give in to God in the same way as the criminals/offenders?

36.  What is wrong with you? What kind of conclusion is this?

37.  Or do you have a book that you learn from?

38.  One where you easily find anything that suits your wants.

39.  Or do you have oaths from us, reaching to the day of resurrection, that whatever you order you shall have?

40.  Ask them: “Which one of them can guarantee this?”

41.  Or do they have associates? If they are genuine, let them call on their associates.

42.  On the day that shanks will be bare, they will be called to prostrate, but they won’t be able to.

43.  Their eyes will be humbled to the ground, their egos will be covered in humiliation. When they were sound, they were also being called to prostrate.

44.  Leave me alone with the one denying this word. We will catch them from where they do not know.

45.  I am giving them time. My trap surely is firm.

46.  Are you asking them for a payment, is that why they are crushed by debt?

47.  Or is the unseen with them, and are they writing it?

48.  Now be patient for your God to adjudge. Don’t be like the friend of the fish, when he was calling angrily.

49.  If he hadn’t received a blessing from his God, he surely would have been thrown onto a barren place, being despised.

50.  But his God chose and elevated him and made him a lover of peace.

51.  When those disbelievers heard the Recitation, they almost pushed you over with their eyes. “This one surely is possessed,” they said.

52.  However, that Recitation is nothing other than an advice for the worlds.
